Italian Sausage, crumbled or chopped
Preheat oven to 375℉. Lightly oil a 9×13” baking dish.
In a medium skillet over medium heat, warm vegetable oil. Add onion and cook until soft (5 mins).
Add fresh sage, sea salt and pepper and cook 1 min more. Add crumbled Italian Sausage to pan and stir to combine.
honeycrisp apples, cored with bottom intact
Use a spoon to scoop out a 1” hole in the apples. Place in baking dish.
Stuff sausage mixture into honeycrisp apples. Drizzle with maple syrup. Cover loosely with foil.
Bake until apples are tender but not mushy (~35 mins). 10 mins before cooking is done, remove the foil.
