Savory Baked Apples

Italian Sausage, crumbled or chopped

  1. Preheat oven to 375℉. Lightly oil a 9×13” baking dish.

  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, warm vegetable oil. Add onion and cook until soft (5 mins).

  3. Add fresh sage, sea salt and pepper and cook 1 min more. Add crumbled Italian Sausage to pan and stir to combine.

  1. Use a spoon to scoop out a 1” hole in the apples. Place in baking dish.

  2. Stuff sausage mixture into honeycrisp apples. Drizzle with maple syrup. Cover loosely with foil.

  3. Bake until apples are tender but not mushy (~35 mins). 10 mins before cooking is done, remove the foil.
